Gist is used in various capacities in my business. The first is their very very comprehensive CRM which allows for generous data storage (even custom data).

The second is the use of their Live Chat. With its robust features as well as a mobile app to stay connected on the go, it really is a very useful feature.

The knowledge base is another powerful tool they provide which is a big plus for customers to self-serve.

Their CRM is one of their most comprehensive I’ve seen with its ability to store large quantities of data - even custom data.

Their Live Chat is also very advanced and does most of what you would want a live chat to do when you have a team.

Their email marketing with automations is also quite advanced.

Using it mainly for the live chat feature. I believe almost nothing beats a live chat function when it comes to supporting customers and visitors on my website. It also helps me collect leads and gain valuable insights into the visitor. I am looking forward to using their email marketing in the near future, but in the meantime, their live chat really is seamless, absolutely in love with it.

I believe Gist (in particular their live chat) is suitable for visitors who are from the general public, which I am using for my website. I also run a separate website where I deal directly with my customers (photographers, B2B) and find that Whatsapp is better (in a sense, closer or more informal feel) suited for long term follow ups and conversations.

As a SaaS company, we need to offer good support and app onboarding to our users. Gist is doing it perfectly. We control all our users journey starting at the website where we capture their email when they initialize the subscription. Then, inside the app we get behavior data so we can help user to enjoy their experience.

When we found Gist, we were amazed at all its features. Now we reduced 3 apps to just one. That's a huge money saver, also their support channel is excellent.

There are a ton of great features. I really like how I'm able to integrate directly into my website.

[Gist] takes some getting used to setting up and using the product. But that's to be expected from such a feature-rich software.

It's hard finding a single software that can do as much as Gist goes. Usually, you have to use multiple software.

Our main use of Gist is for customer support via the Live Chat functionality on our corporate website. This was the strongest selling point when they released the service and still is the main reason we use it. It also functions as a lightweight CRM and has many lead generation tools.
  • LiveChat is great, it even supports many languages, which is very handy if you're website visitors are not native English speakers.
  • The CRM module offers basic information about your visitors, which helps in crafting your audience segmentation.
  • It has integrated email campaigns. This wasn't extensively tested by us, but it'll be perfect for a mid-sized audience with just a few thousand subscribers.
  • Email editor could use some improvements.
  • Would be nice to have a more robust CRM module.
It's a great platform. We have been using Gist for customer support for about a year now. This is the first chat app we tried and works well so far. It has numerous handy features, like email automation, chatbots, live event tracker, knowledgebase, behavioral email marketing, and even drip campaigns, and so on. Gist's feature list is growing very fast, they seem to listen to their customers very well!

We launched a SAAS product numki.com and using Gist to help automate marketing and follow up to trial users of the platform to try and convert them into paying customers. We are also using the live chat feature to engage with potential customers and also as a support chat for existing customers. For leads that desire a service-based approach, we are using the booking feature to set appointments to educate people on the advantages of our platform.

  • Automation and Workflows: You can create complete automation based on user behavior such as visiting a page on your website or opening a link in an email.
  • Meetings: a great system that ties in with google calendar to allow visitors to set up appointments with users.
  • The email editor is surprisingly nice because it allows me to focus on creating content instead of building the email.
  • Would be nice to be able to create task/to-dos for users.
  • It would be perfect if it had a sales pipeline like Trello or Pipedrive.
  • I have multiple domains for my business and It would be great if I could have different chat widgets I could style for each website. Currently, you get one chat widget style for all of your websites.
If your marketing model is selling products, services, or SAAS where you are doing inbound marketing and your website will do most of the lead generation and conversion, this is a great product. From live chat, support, event tracking, and automation, you could almost put your entire business on autopilot.

If your marketing model is mostly outreach to cold leads and conversion, this software currently does not have any type of sales stages or task generation. I would still use Gist for website inbound but use another software for outreach and cold leads then when they become a lead put them into Gist for marketing automation.

For us it's both a handy tool to be in touch with leads and customers and essential tool to broaden support channels. Our customers can now find us more easily. And it is great for both the customer service team and the support team. We like how easy it is to integrate with WordPress.

We use Gist as our unified customer contact system. Customers can use integrated Gist chat in our app for immediate contact both before and after purchase. We use the strong email automation to drive our onboarding of customers and for ongoing customer engagement.

We found the software to be easy to use and intuitive, and are pleased with the overall experience so far. The main problem it addresses for us is staying in touch with clients and prospects through email and chat.

Gist might not be suitable for businesses that are primarily conducted in-person e.g. field sales, retail outlets.

I used Gist last year to manage my email newsletter program, and also tested it for live chat. Ultimately, I decided not to offer live chat at that point in time so we dropped Gist for the time being and switched to another program for email marketing. On the whole, I feel Gist is quite a good product for basic CRM, EDM, and live chat. It lacks the bells and whistles in mature products like HubSpot, but it also costs a fraction of the price so it's worth a try for small companies just starting out.
  • Live Chat administration is seamless across email, desktop, and the app.
  • Support team is good at communication and is not some half-baked team.
Best for freelancers & small companies who are just starting to look into CRM, email marketing, and live chat. Not great for busy teams who have a large budget and need something to work without question.

Gist is an all-in-one platform to provide customer support. I like their super cool chat widget. Using their mobile app I can reply to my customers on the go. It helps me a lot to provide faster support. Also, they have a knowledgebase feature. This knowledgebase reduces customer ticket submissions a lot. My business is so smooth because of this powerful software!

As a solopreneur selling higher priced art, I need to have a really strong support tool to help answer any questions my clients may have before or during their purchase. I love that Gist gives me the ability to have live chat (which I can respond to from my phone!), a chat bot, and even a knowledge base!
  • The live chat has a beautiful UI; is easy for both the end-user and admin and I can even respond to my users from my phone.
  • Customer support is phenomenal! They use their own live chat tool, which just proves they believe in it, and are usually available to help me even at night and on weekends when I'm working on my business.
  • There's a lot of features available, so it can be a little overwhelming at first but it only takes a few minutes to learn how to use and implement each of the features.
I love having a chat bot, live chat, a knowledge base, and even an email marketing platform all in one place because it means I can easily sync data between them all and even better, I do it all in one place with just a single subscription!

Gist is being used to interact with my website visitors, who mostly are software testing professionals. Gist chat user interface helps us to touch base with the visitors, understand their needs, and help them. It is being used across the platform along with pop-ups, UI, and emails. Gist is very easy to set up, and improves our interactivity with our visitors.

I’ve been a fan of Gist (formerly Convertfox) since after they launched their product. Since then, the product has developed with updates and new features being rolled out to assist business owners. The fact that it’s an all-in-one marketing automation platform is where it demonstrates its value.
It incorporates: automations based on events, email automation, live chat & bots, scheduling, help desk / knowledge base, forms, tracking, plenty of integrations.
The platform essentially saves you from connecting different apps via APIs as it’s an all-in-one where contact data is updated along the way, from lead to customer. Gist are constantly improving and listening to customer feedback which is great, but sometimes it does take time to implement. This is to be expected, though, from any company, especially when there are many users wanting all types of integrations and features added.

  • At the same time, they have additional features well beyond those platforms that we did not expect. That is saving us money and time. More importantly, we can support our clients and potential clients 24 hours a day and seven days a week, and we can serve them with very targeted messaging and help.

If you have a website that is B2B or B2C, Gist can be useful. You need to communicate with your target audience, and the faster you can get to them when they need help the more likely you are to close them. Gist does a great job of helping you stay on top of your website user or lead so you can make that connection when you have the chance. Between chat prompts, bots, live view, and automation, you can really make the most of the application once you get it setup.

Using Gist mainly as a live chat system to qualify leads. Once we qualify leads we will engage in talking to them. The idea is to only talk to the people who might be a good fit for our service and ignore others. We do this by checking what pages they're visiting.
  • The live chat widget is excellent. Minimal and loads very fast.
  • The iOS app integration is good and sends you a notification whenever someone engages with you.
  • Captures a lot of referrer information about the user so it's easy to qualify them before you even fully engage with them.
  • A better AI based chatbot which can ask pre qualifying questions.
If you have a large site and want to engage with your users in a smart way, use Gist. It's fantastic for onboarding and qualifying leads. You can automate email and capture this on the spot, which can be later used in other marketing activities such as Facebook audience building.

We use Gist to provide an immediate response to clients visiting our website. This allows us to be quick to respond to our important customers and therefore keep their interest and show that we are keen to provide the information they need to purchase our products.

They may well visit another site within the next few minutes if they can't get their questions answered, so this will help to secure business. It also provides a helpful reminder to clients that your customer is only a few clicks away from communicating directly with an expert.

I am subscribed to the highest tier of Gist, so I am taking the full advantage of the platform. I use it for lead capture, customer support, live chat, and email marketing. I was able to customize the chat widget to match my site's branding and the whole experience is very smooth. We are a software development house and we test software very thoroughly, we decided on Gist because it combines email marketing, live chat, and customer support tools so we don't have to pay for them separately. Not to mention that their support is great. We use it in our marketing department but everyone in my company uses it because our policy is that everyone in the company is responsible for support. I have recommended Gist to some of my friends and they also started to use it in their businesses.

  • Email Marketing. It's a full autoresponder. You can capture leads with landing pages and forms and trigger email sequences after they opt-in.
  • Knowledge Base. It helps us find answers for our customers much faster.
  • Mobile app. It helps us keep an eye on all support issues and handle customer support while on the go.
  • Their email marketing features are still not where I would like them to be but they are improving all the time.
I've come to depend on the live chat feature so much that I cannot run my business without it. The mobile app makes my dream of running my business remotely a reality. Two months ago I was on the Swiss Alps and got a message from a potential client, I was able to close the customer while spending the day on the mountain top. Not to mention that the knowledge base makes supporting customers on the go a breeze. If you have a customer-facing landing page then you need Gist. It is not meant to be used as an email marketing suite at the moment but it does the customer support job extremely well.

As a small business owner, I use the Chatbot to chat with people who visit my website, view the site behavior stats of those visitors, and I send out a regular newsletter to subscribers who signed up on my website.
  • The Chatbot is so helpful as another way for site visitors to connect. Rather than filling out a webform they get fast answers. I love that I can use the Gist app on my phone and not miss any communication.
  • The simplicity of the email templates and creating newsletter blasts is a godsend.
  • I'd like to see better visuals of what I've created over the last 2 years so I can easily understand which lists go to which campaigns and which automation are running what. I feel like Gist is a thoroughbred yet I'm only able to take her on trail rides!
I believe that my limitations (I need to spend more time learning how to utilize this impressive platform as much as possible) are what limits me from recommending Gist more. I have had a steep learning curve and I am in tech, so for non-techie folks, I'd have to caution them that Gist has a lot going on but they'll have to take some time to work it all out.

I'm using this as my email marketing platform, live chat, and scheduling platform. I'm very pleased to have all these products integrated together, along with the ability to add a knowledge base in the future. It's already been helpful to see which prospects have reached out via chat, so I can tag them and send email campaigns to them.
  • Integrating multiple marketing products (speaks for itself).
  • Live chat is a GREAT alternative to other products.
  • Their new UIX is awesome. Very intuitive and easy to navigate.
  • No improvements at this time.
Great for small to medium service-based businesses or SaaS companies. I wouldn't recommend for e-commerce companies since there are other platforms better suited for commerce needs. This is a great tool for companies that are looking for multiple marketing products they can integrate together (ex. chat, knowledge base, email marketing platform, and scheduling).

Easy to install chat widget with many options on colors and icons. Pretty much a great app overall. You never know with newer apps if they are going to be around or if there is a lot of continued development. But the Gist team is always helpful and they keep developing and developing. That says a lot for where they are headed. I see great things and we will continue to use them. Overall, we are really happy with Gist. It suites our needs and has more features then we need. If you're reading this and you are looking for a support widget or a knowledge base with some added email automation with marketing capabilities, Gist is a great option. We use it every day in our SaaS App.
